SIRS: Metrology for stable isotope reference standards

2017–2020          Supporting governments to verify emissions & demonstrate reduction targets

Methods to discriminate between natural and various manmade sources of greenhouse gases are needed to support governments to verify emissions and demonstrate reduction targets.

Project fills a traceability gap by providing new measurement infrastructure for stable isotopes of the major greenhouse gases CO2 and N2O.

MIKES develops a compact spectroscopic isotope analyser for pure N2O and a field-deployable CO2 isotope analyser for atmospheric measurements.
