LNG III: Metrological support for LNG and LBG as a transport fuel

2017–2020          Facilitating the large scale roll-out of LNG and LBG as fuelLNG_logo.png

Reliable determination of the amount, physical properties and composition of LNG and LBG are needed for large-scale utilization of these fuels as transport fuels.

Project aims to reduce the uncertainty of LNG and LBG custody transfer measurements, as well as to develop traceable reference standards and validate sensors for in-line measurements.

Project actions:
WP1: Reduced uncertainty for dynamic flow measurements
WP2: Traceable small scale liquefier, density and particle measurements
WP3: Smart sensor development and testing
WP4: Smart sensor validation and engine tests

MIKES develops a tuneable filter infrared sensor for the determination of the methane number and validates it with engine tests and comparisons.
